Lucia de Brito Franco
Annual Celebration of the Arts
Lucia de Brito Franco is interested on how art has the ability to transmit directly to the senses of a person, in an intuitive, non-rational way. These trigger new processes of knowledge and discovery. Gathering inspiration from nature, she began to dive as a child, fascinated by the ocean. Lucia loves the stillness that contemplation provides as well as adventure sports. Her paintings are built upon layers of paint, structured from different levels of awareness. Initial stratum capture experiences that are visually unexplainable:
temperature, the darkness, the taste of water, the force of currents, an encounter or, the scent of a forest. Imprinted on the surface is the vibration of the light: swirling underwater, shinning above the ocean, flickering on the tree leaves, illuminating the skin.
Lucia paints out of Lisbon though has had recent stays in the Azores and Switzerland. Her work is displayed in many countries in Europe in private collections and has recently been shown in Montreux. For more information please consult http://luciadebritofranco.com/
